Pop Warner Little Scholars, Inc. is the only national youth sports organization in America that requires its participants to perform adequately in the classroom before permitting them to play. We agree that these standards give our children a sense of responsibility and an appreciation for academics and athletics that will help them develop later on in life. We place a priority on academic excellence above all else. .

Scholastic Fitness Is A National Policy

Per Pop Warner guidelines, every participant in football and cheerleading must submit a report card that includes a full year of grades. The Scholastics Director calculates the average based upon Pop Warner equivalents, and a 2.0/70% minimum grade point average is required for participation.

If a student-athlete does not meet the scholastic requirements he/she may submit a Scholastic Eligibility Form accompanied by a progress report or report card to be eligible for play after the October 18 deadline.

WG All-American Nominees

Our Scholastics Director reviews every participant’s report card for eligibility in the Academic All-American program. All eligible participants will be contacted by the Scholastics Director with documentation required to be considered for All-American status. There is no need to complete any documentation prior to being contacted.

Once you have been notified of eligibility, please complete all materials on time, as asked, to have your child included in the process - it’s a great honor for your child and well-deserved! Academic All-Americans may be eligible for scholarships and other events, but ONLY if materials are completed as requested. Please follow instructions from the Scholastics Director to ensure your child doesn’t miss-out!

If Participation Isn’t Motivation Enough, How About Scholarships and All-American Status?

Each year, the most academically accomplished Pop Warner kids compete for Academic All-American status. This process begins at the association level and up through each of the eight Pop Warner regions to the national level. The Pop Warner All-American Program requires a minimum 96% grade point average to apply. After the applications have been processed, Pop Warner determines National First Team All-Americans (35 football, 35 cheer per grade), National Second Team All-Americans and National Honorable Mention Scholars.

Being named an All-America Scholar means you're among the top 2% of all Pop Warner participants across the country!
